Sometimes you need to feel a little more yourself after a life changing illness.
We are searching for 100 people, whose lives have been profoundly affected by permanent or temporary hair loss due to a medical condition, chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Under Te Whatu Ora's Section 88, funding is available to cover 100% of your Permanent Makeup treatments. Any shortfalls will be absorbed by The Refinery. If you are declined, we'll still cover everything for you (except wigs & hair pieces)
We'll start with giving you back some of you, starting with:
- permanent brows and/or
- permanent lash liner
- laser removal of radiation marker tattoos (all sessions complementary)
- source high quality, synthetic and human hair wigs & hair pieces, in the latest styles and most natural colours (7- 10 day delivery)
Then, you can resume planning your next adventure of meaningful experiences and connections.
Project Revitalise will commence June 1 - Sept 30, 2026.
Eligibility
A Doctor's note indicating:
- You suffer hair loss due to a medical condition or illness
- Note whether the hair loss is temporary or permanent
- Includes your NHI number
Te Whatu Ora
The wigs and hairpieces subsidy is for people who have serious hair loss because of a medical condition or from cancer treatment.
Section 88 covers funding for wigs, hairpieces, headscarves, brows and eyelash/eyeliner.
Claim entitlements:
Adult Permanent Hair Loss
Your entitlement is $2,330.66 (including GST) over a 9-year period. You can claim all or part of this entitlement at any time over the 9-year period.
Adult Temporary Hair Loss
Your entitlement is $408.88 (including GST) over a 1-year period. You can claim all or part of this entitlement at any time over the 1-year period.
